Mechanism Of Action Of Vildagliptin

• Vildagliptin is an inhibitor of DPP-4, an enzyme that degrades the incretin hormones glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). Incretins help the body produce more insulin only when it is needed and reduce the amount of glucose being produced by the liver when it is not needed.

Therapeutic Indications Of Galvus 50 Mg Tablets

• Vildagliptin is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus:
• As monotherapy in patients in whom metformin is inappropriate due to contraindications or intolerance.
• In combination with other medicinal products for the treatment of diabetes, including insulin, when these do not provide adequate glycaemic control

Method Of Administration Of Galvus 50 Mg Tablets

• When used as monotherapy, the recommended daily dose of vildagliptin is 50-100 mg, administered as one dose of 50 mg in the morning and one dose of 50 mg in the evening if needed.
• When used in dual combination with a sulphonylurea, the recommended dose of vildagliptin is 50 mg once daily administered in the morning
• Doses higher than 100 mg are not recommended.
• Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
• If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
• If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
• Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

Undesirable Side Effects Of Galvus 50 Mg Tablets

• Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:

1. Tremor
2. Headache
3. Dizziness
4. Fatigue
5. Nausea
