What is CPR?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency first aid procedure performed to maintain blood flow and oxygen to the brain and other vital organs in the body when the heart stops beating, and aims to maintain basic body functions until advanced medical help arrives.

How long does CPR last

CPR should be continued without interruption until medical help arrives or until signs of life appear (such as resumption of breathing or a pulse), or until you are no longer able to continue for safety reasons.

How do I perform CPR

CPR consists of two main steps:

1. Chest compressions:    

Place the person on a hard, flat surface. Open the airway by slightly lifting the chin. Press the middle of the chest firmly and firmly at a rate of 100 compressions per minute. Use your arm muscles, not your body weight. Make sure to keep your elbows straight and your shoulders above your chest. Press 5-6cm deep for adults. Continue chest compressions without interruption.


2. Artificial respiration:

After every 30 chest compressions, give the person two artificial inflations. Hold the person's nose tightly. Exhale into the person's mouth slowly and steadily for one second. Make sure the person's chest rises with each exhale. Repeat the process of two puffs. note: If you are not sure how to give rescue breathing, you can continue with chest compressions only. It is recommended that you learn how to perform CPR through an approved training course. What is the success rate of CPR? The chances of survival of a person experiencing cardiac arrest are greatly increased if CPR is performed early and correctly. Every minute that passes without resuscitation reduces the chances of survival by a percentage 7-10%.
